MTÜ Tartu Folk

The NGO Tartu Folk was established on 14 February 2019 with the aim of promoting folklore, especially in Tartu County, organising educational activities and folklore events and bringing together young people from different countries who are interested in folklore.

Tartu Folklife Club Maatasa, which is a part of Tartu Folklife NGO, is engaged in the study of South-Estonian folklore in various fields: songs, dances, folk songs, folk tales, folk costumes. The group has organised the international folk festival Tartu Folk, which brings together folk musicians and dancers from all over Europe. The first festival took place in 2016.
